Backyard Paradise

A diverse world of granite-like climbing lies just in our backyard here in Flagstaff, and apart from the moderate classics at West Elden, much of this backyard paradise remains unknown and unclimbed by most of the Flagstaff climbing community!  Colin Cox, JJ Schlick, Dave Bloom, Wade Forrest and many others have put in countless days of work establishing high quality climbs on the crisp and demanding dacite of the little mountain.  I’ve been really inspired to climb on Mt Elden this summer, and learning more about the history and development of these areas from Colin and JJ has made the experience even more rewarding!

We’re just back from a gorgeous morning pulling on the steepest and highest quality dacite around at the One Wall and Blake McCord captured the beauty of the rock and the setting.
